PPIM 2023 Conference Paper
“Use of Mobile Fleet of Leak Detection Devices to Mitigate Risk During Pipeline Repair Program”
Adrian Banica and Stephen Edmondson from Direct-C and Tim Edward from OneBridge Solutions prepared an eight-page paper for the 35th annual Pipeline Pigging & Integrity Management (PPIM) Conference held in Houston, Texas. Adrian presented at the conference after being selected from among many submissions.
In this paper, the authors describe how a fleet of leased mobile leak detection systems were deployed over several months along a pipeline which covered several Eastern US States. The units were deployed in high-risk areas that had been identified as needing repair. At the completion of the repair program the leased leak detection systems were returned.
The paper also examines how data science and machine learning software combined with environmental assessments can lead to deployment of targeted leak monitoring devices that employ nanotechnology based coatings to optimize a pipeline repair program.
