Meet the individuals on our board.

Adrian Banica, Director

Mr. Banica is a serial entrepreneur who founded two successful technology ventures within the past two decades, and has significant expertise in hardware systems commercialization for the oil and gas vertical. The first venture, an oil and gas and space systems instrumentation company, was acquired by Belgium based Rhea Space Systems in 1999.  His second venture, TSX Venture-listed Synodon Inc. (SYD), adapted a satellite based methane sensor into a helicopter deployed system called realSens and has successfully commercialized a service to oil and gas companies to map and quantify their greenhouse gas emissions. Mr. Banica has helped secure over $25 million in financing for the venture and led the company to its first profitable quarter in 2014. Currently he is advising a number of technology companies and is the Executive Chairman for Illusense Inc., a BC based pipeline inspection technology developer. Adrian is also a member of the A100 group.

Mark Hutchison, Director

Previously VP Pipelines at ShawCor Inc. Mark led teams of process and product design engineers along with a new plant management team in designing, developing, testing, manufacturing and commercializing a new product family of high-pressure/large-diameter composite pipe (‘FlexFlow’) in a new 200,000 sq. ft. plant.  Following the FlexFlow commercialization, Mark led a global survey and analysis of pipeline leak detection technologies on behalf of ShawCor’s Integrity Management Group. Prior to ShawCor, Mark was the Office Managing Director for Western Management Consultants’ Calgary office.  Mark currently leads HumanEdge Global’s Calgary office as Client Partner in a boutique, quality-first retained executive search firm.  Mark also serves on two other private company boards and two not-for-profit Boards.

Dr. Simon Park, Director

Dr. Simon Park is a professor at the Schulich School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, University of Calgary. Dr. Park received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Toronto. He then continued his PhD work at the University of British Columbia.

Dr. Park has formed the Micro Engineering, Dynamics, and Automation Laboratory (MEDAL) at the University of Calgary to investigate integration of methodologies that provide productivity, flexibility, and accuracy to the processing of complex components. His research interests include: sensors, micro-machining, nano-engineering, and CNT-based nanocomposites. Currently, Dr. Park supervises 20 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.

Andrew Jack, Director

Andrew is an experienced executive with over 25 years at the Senior Executive level in the International Oil and Gas sector including positions in the C-Suite, General Management, Strategy, Commercial Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions, Finance and Operations Management.  A Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI) and a member of the UK Pipeline Industries Guild, Andrew has been immersed in the energy sector since 1990 and had the opportunity to live & work throughout Europe, Africa, Middle East, Far East and North America, establishing / acquiring and developing businesses globally.
